We stopped by this Veterans Park in Canon City while we were passing through.
This fountain display was a relatively new addition to the park by the Rotary Club.
Canon City is best known for housing the Royal Gorge Train. You can see it in the background above. We did not have time to take the train ride on this trip but we plan on going back as this is on our list of future places to go.
There is a notable cannon in the park. The plaque dates back to WWI. Is it irony to have a cannon display in Canon City?
The most iconic symbol in the park is this “missile” pictured above. While it is the most visible feature of the park it is also the most puzzling. The cannon had a dedication plaque next to it. This has no plaque or description of what it is. It is interesting and mysterious at the same time.
