My wife Jan and I like to go to casinos when we get a chance. We particularly like to see new casinos. On our way back from visiting our kids we took a detour to visit the Clear Lake area of California. This was in December of 2013.
Since it was off-season there was little activity at the lake itself. In fact, we saw all of the boats out of the water for the winter.
The lake and the surrounding hills still had some great views to see.
South of Clear Lake was Geyserville with a beautiful view of the vineyard valley.
South of Geyserville were several sculptures alongside the road to the freeway (Highway 101).
They call this Sculpture Trail. These seem to change over time as many of the sculptures that we took pictures of are no longer there.
We stopped by 8 nearby casinos:
Colusa Casino Resort (pictured above), Robinson Rancheria, Running Creek Casino (one of our favorites), Coyote Valley Casino, Hopland Sho-Ka-Wah Casino (pictured above), Konocti Vista Casino Resort, Twin Pine Casino & Hotel, and River Rock Casino (the largest of the group).
We like to get the member cards and take advantage of the new member incentives which usually is free play from $5-$25. It was quite a drive around the lake but a lot of fun.
Visiting the casinos was fun but it would be nice to go back during the warmer weather to see what type of activities take place during the summer.
