We were actually drawn to this area by the “ghost town” of Ludlow and found this monument.
One of the dark days of American history here when in 1914 striking miners were massacred by the company they were striking against.
The victims included women and children as well as a passer-by.
This is the monument erected in their honor.
The backside of the monument.
Such a shame that such an event happened at all in such a beautiful setting.
This was an interesting find. I was never aware that such an event took place. Lost to most history taught to us but still remembered today by this monument. A very nice place to visit on a beautiful day.
