This was a very unique memorial. It is more of an area than a structure. The part that stands out the most is the statues of soldiers marching through the woods on patrol. These are very eerie in that they are so realistic that you almost expect them to move or talk to you. Very moving.
Another part of the memorial is the engraved granite wall in the background. It is hard to show in pictures but much better in person to view.
The third part of the memorial is a pool at the far end.
Around the pool are reminders of how costly war can be. Freedom is definitely not free. In the gallery below are more statistics of wounded and missing. This is a very humbling memorial to those that served.
This is a realistic 3D version of what it was like to be a part of this war. The engravings throughout detail all of the countries involved with an emphasis on America’s involvement. Well worth seeing if you visit DC.
