This Colorado Springs, Colorado park not only has a great park but a great Visitors Center as well. This is actually a good place to start before seeing the park.
The center is located at the Northeast entrance to the park and offers plenty of parking. There is a handicap entrance if you need one.
The front desk is where you can find out about tours, rock climbing, or any question you may have. There is also a good map behind them on the wall. They also have a movie theater inside.
The 3D model of the park is a good way to view the roads and sites before setting out into the park.
there are lots of displays about the geology of the park and how it was formed.
This was an amazing exhibit of all of the park animals. The nearby Rocky Mountains helps make for a wide variety of animals.
There are also fun things to do for the kids (I refer to the one above) like get your picture taken with the native dinosaurs. Hint – the are not real. It is just an illusion but its fun none the less.
One of the best features of the center is the balcony view. The picture above doesn’t do it justice.
We highly recommend a visit to this park if you are anywhere near Colorado Springs. We have been twice – once in the cold winter and once in the fall and each visit was very enjoyable. However, we do not recommend hiking in the winter.
