Our first trip to Florida together. Our first stop was the Florida Welcome Center off of I-10 across the Alabama border.
Of course we had to take a selfie – we were happy to be in Florida.
Here is the sign and sunburst sidewalk without us in the way. The welcome center had lots of palm trees with more on the way. Check out the upper right corner where you might see a bunch of palm trees lying in the parking lot ready for planting. One of the interesting things in Florida was the lack of palm trees except where they use them for decoration.
This welcome center was near Pensacola which is the home base for the Blue Angels. Naturally they would have one (an older F-9 Cougar) on display.
The Welcome Center had lots of stuff including restrooms, vending machines, brochures for every region, and more.
Since this is a big aviation region, they have a tribute to Naval aviation. Also notice the space suit in the background.
It was great to visit the welcome center as we got into Florida. My wife stocked up on reading material of places we might go.
