First of all, yes, they do call this The Center of the Universe. Of course the first question is “why?”. This is probably followed by “really?”.

Center of the Universe – Tulsa, Oklahoma – Walk up to it

This has to be the most non-descriptive site that we have ever visited. Most sites are filled with statues, signs, plaques, or other form of description. This site could be passed by without noticing anything. It is located on an overpass walkway than spans over the downtown railroad tracks.

So what makes this piece of concrete surrounded by bricks so special? The only way to really understand it is by standing on it and talking. Not everyone will hear it but my wife and I did. There is a metallic echo that occurs in your head when you talk while standing on this spot. Strange but true. We were a little freaked out and amazed by it.

It seems to be a local phenomenon such that there was a whole class of elementary school children visiting at the time we were there. There is also a festival in its honor.

This nearby statue is the only marker to help find this place although it does not have any writing on it.

The only way you can convince yourself about this place is to experience it yourself. Good Luck.

You can find it on Google Maps, TripAdvisor, and various travel sites. Below is the link to the local festival:
